Natural Indoor Insect Killer

Kills Bed Bugs & Other Indoor Insects

Are You Suffering with Bed Bugs?

Bed bugs are small nocturnal insects that feed on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded hosts. Bed bugs are generally active only at night, with a peak attack period about an hour before dawn, though given the opportunity, they may attempt to feed at other times of day.

bed bug on skin Attracted by warmth and the presence of carbon dioxide, the bug pierces the skin of its host with two hollow tubes. With one tube it injects its saliva, which contains anticoagulants and anesthetics, while with the other it withdraws the blood of its host. After feeding for about five minutes, the bug returns to its hiding place. The bites cannot usually be felt until some minutes or hours later, as a dermatological reaction to the injected agents. Although bed bugs can live for up to 18 months without feeding, they typically seek blood every five to ten days.

Female bed bugs can lay up to five eggs in a day and 500 during a lifetime.

How to Use Results Indoor Bedbug Killer

Make a barrier of powder between the bed bugs and their food source. You must ensure that in order for them to crawl to you they must touch/crawl over the powder at some point! (Remember, they may be hiding on the mattress or bed frame itself as well as around the room).

By saying “make a barrier” we mean apply a thin uniform layer anywhere and everywhere the bed bug might need to crawl over in order to make it to you while you sleep. This can include the mattress, the carpet leading up to the bed, the bed frame, the bottom of the box spring, or in-between the box spring and the mattress, and even the outsides of the blankets. Keep in mind, the bed bugs are going to try to find a way around this product, the goal is to make it so they have to cross over a treated area in order for them to reach you while you sleep.

Treat the bed: Results Indoor Insect/Bedbug Killer is one of the only registered products that you can use on the mattress itself! The label even states, "Treat....both sides of the mattress." Also treat around the room in places bed bugs like to hide.

Helpful hint: If you can fit the edge of a credit card into a crack or crevice, bed bugs can fit in too!

Maintain the Barrier!

The barrier has to be constant for the entire treatment period. Even a day lapse could set you back by weeks. Keep the powder down for 7 days at a time. At the end of the 7 day period, vacuum up the powder and reapply a new layer. If you prefer, there is a cleaner, slightly less effective approach. Vacuum up the powder 1 hour after applying. Follow the rest of the steps as usual.

3. Treat Once-a-Week for 4-6 Weeks

1 lb of Results Indoor Insect Killer will effectively treat a 1,000 square foot area. Most bedrooms are around 250 square feet so 1 bottle should be enough for about 3-4 weeks worth of treatment to a single room (a very fine and uniform dusting is very important, clumps of powder will create area’s the bed bugs avoid.

We recommend the use of a duster such as the Bellow 8 oz. duster

The use of this bellow 8 Oz. Duster is used to really get into the cracks and crevices with the Results Insect Killer Dust. Another tool used for dusting would be a small paint brush. Put a small amount of dust on the tip of the brush, brushing into cracks and crevices.

Just about any effective means of bed bug eradication is going to take several weeks to fully work.

Here are some bed bug facts to consider:

  • They hatch every 8-10 days.
  • Female bed bugs lay approximately 5 eggs a day.
  • A newly hatched bed bug must eat at least 5 times before they can reproduce.
  • Bed bugs eat, on average, once every 4-5 days.
  • Studies have shown a 100% kill rate with even a small amount of Results Indoor Insect Killer, but it could take up to 3 full days (72 hours) for the bed bug to die once contact is made. This is perfect for treatment since they only eat (bite you) once every 4-5 days and they are incapable of cleaning the powder off once it is on them. This also means they take the product back to their nest killing more bed bugs.

Here is what you can expect when applying Results Indoor Insect Killer on a weekly basis:

Week 1: All adults are killed - However, for up to 5 days after your initial treatment eggs were being actively laid (5 a day each) by the females that fed the night before your first treatment.

Week 2: Eggs from right before the initial treatment are hatching this week and they are hungry. Remember, they might bite you the first time, but it takes 5 feedings in order for them to start reproducing. As long as they come in contact with Results Insect Killer before that 5th time they will die and they will never have a chance to lay more eggs.

Week 3: The few eggs that were laid 5 days after the first treatment are now hatching. Keep up the barrier! You're almost done!

Week 4: All the eggs should have hatched by now, and no new eggs were laid that would be hatching this week. This is the mop-up week where you will be killing the few bed bugs that managed to survive until now.

Week 5: Mostly precautionary, you just went through 4 weeks of treatment, let's make sure they are gone for good!

DIATECT Insect Killer Ingredients:
Effective, Non-Toxic, Safer

Pyrethrins - Fast Knockdown from African Daisy Extract
Diatomaceous Earth - Lethal to Insects
PBO - Synthetic Sassafras Oil for Longer Lasting Effectiveness

Pyrethrins — Fast Knockdown from African Daisy Extract

Pyrethrins are oily liquid esters, carefully refined from flowers of the Chrysanthemum family commonly known as the ‘African Daisy’. Until recently, grown in only exotic, out-of-the-way places such as East Africa, India and New Guinea, it is now cultivated in otherwise suitable, non-traditional locations such as Australia. Virtually no known negative effect to mammals and birds, this well understood, well documented, pesticide acts on insects’ central and peripheral nervous systems by causing immediate paralysis.

What then is the advantage of Pyrethrum over man-made insecticides? Oddly, its advantage is the same as its disadvantage, until it is combined with Diatomaceous Earth, or DE. When Pyrethrum is exposed to conditions of the natural environment such as the UV light in sunshine, it rapidly oxidizes and breaks down into naturally occurring compounds. It kills insects quickly, but then it disappears. That is useful in many ways, particularly when dealing with stored food or crops to be harvested the next day. When combined properly with DE the life of Pyrethrum can be extended to provide a longer effective kill time but still disappear.

Properly used according to straightforward label instructions, DIATECT®'s natural insect control products have a low environmental effect. Once exposed to the natural environment, the Pyrethrum degrades to leave no known negative effects that would accumulate in the environment, the natural food chain, or in our food supplies. This combination of a very lethal insect killer combined with having a low environmental effect makes our insect control products nearly perfect insecticides.

Diatomaceous Earth — Lethal to Insects

Diatomaceous Earth, which is also called DE or silicon dioxide, is as chemically inert as road dust, but when properly used, it is very effective against insect pests. Unlike ‘chemical insecticides’ of the last half of the 20th Century, DE is a ‘physical’ or ‘mechanical’ insecticide.

Knowledge of one fact about insects and two facts about DE is required in order to understand how DE can have no known negative effect to humans and yet be very effective in killing insects.

Insects control their body moisture by means of a complex ‘waxy’ coating on the outside of their exoskeletons, i.e., their shells. This coating is naturally porous, which permit slow loss of water and evaporation. If the waxy coating is damaged, the insect suffers serious injury.

DE is made up of ancient skeletal remains of diatoms. These one-celled creatures have hard, sharp structures that are small enough to cut or pierce the insect’s waxy coating. But the structures are so small that DE feels as soft as baby powder to humans.

DE is also an excellent absorbent that is used in cleaning oils spills or kitty litter. This strong absorbency literally sucks the life fluid from insects. Because this is a mechanical process, DE can be literally effective forever. However, this is also a slow process when used alone.

Our insect control products combine DE with a second of Mother Nature’s gifts, Pyrethrum from African Daisies. Pyrethrum is a lethal nerve irritant to insects in very small doses, but it has no known toxicity to warm blooded or higher animals such as mammals or birds.

Piperonyl Butoxide — Synthetic Sassafras Oil for Longer Lasting Effectiveness

Piperonyl Butoxide, or PBO, is not an insecticide but is a synthetic sassafras oil. Various parts of the sassafras tree have been used as food additives for many years. Sassafras tea has been made for generations and sarsaparilla, the flavor in root beer is the extract from the sassafras tree.

In our products, it is used as an inexpensive synergist to reduce the amount of pyrethrum required to kill insects and thus reducing the cost of our insect control products. Originally extracted from a variety of Sassafras, PBO is now synthesized to make it available on a sustainable basis in quantities greater than possible from the wild. PBO has no known toxicity and when properly combined with Pyrethrum, the effectiveness of Pyrethrum is enhanced many fold. In addition, PBO retards the rapid oxidation of Pyrethrum to both, improves its shelf life, and increases the effective life of Pyrethrum in the field.
