roach control

I see very large palmetto bugs in my house. I thought they only lived in Florida. Where do they come from?

"Palmetto bugs" or "water bugs" are common names for American and smokey brown cockroaches. These are outdoor roaches that enter homes. Spraying the entry points of your home is your first line of defense.

I have German roaches. If I treat now, when can I expect to see results?

While sprays work faster than baits and dusts, producing dead roaches quickly, the baits and dusts are much more persistent, resulting in more complete kills after 7 to 10 days. For further information go to ROACH INFORMATION.

My daughter is doing a paper for her physics class and the question is :

What is the principle of physics that makes roaches die on their backs. Any ideas?

When insects die from pesticides, they are killed by inhibition of cholinesterase, an enzyme that helps transmit nerve impulses to the muscles. The resulting loss of muscular control causes violent twitching forcing them on their backs. The twitching causes the center of gravity to become higher than the center of balance.

Do flying roaches make buzzing sounds ? Do I have this insect confused with another ?

The flapping of wings could be responsible for the noise. The two most common flying roaches are the American Cockroach and the Smoky Brown Cockroach.
